Adam Goodison

Chief Instructor &
Safeguarding Lead

My name is Adam, and I am proud to hold a 4th Degree Black Belt with more than 20 years of enriching experience in the world of Martial Arts. I firmly believe in the power of a student-centred approach, dedicated to guiding each individual on their unique journey to reach their utmost potential and realise their dreams. Every week, over 200 aspiring martial artists come together in our classes, united in their pursuit of excellence. Witnessing our students achieve feats they once thought were beyond their reach fills my heart with joy and inspires me daily. I have been fortunate to compete at local, national, and international levels, and each experience has only deepened my commitment to empowering others. Together, we can embrace challenges, break barriers, and celebrate accomplishments. Let’s take this journey of growth and achievement—your potential is limitless!

Claire Goodison

Club Secretary &
Assistant Coach

Well, hello there! I’m Claire, your ever-enthusiastic 3rd Kyu Brown Belt – think of me as your local karate cheerleader, complete with a decade of high-flying, kick-tastic adventures (and yes, that pun is as punny as it sounds)! After spending over ten years wrangling kids in a school – where chaos reigns supreme and giggles are the currency – I’ve gathered some fantastical experience in keeping pint-sized rascals entertained. Now, speaking of dynamism, my husband? He’s the Grand Poobah of Karate, the top banana, the Chief Instructor himself! In our dojo, slacking off is a big no-no; around here, it's all about gloriously high kicks and karate chops galore! And guess what? I’ve enlisted my son in this karate escapade too; he’s leaping into action and matching my brown-belted magnificence! We’re practically the Karate Avengers, ready to save the day one kick at a time! And here’s the kicker – I had absolutely no clue about martial arts before diving headfirst into this whirlwind! If that’s not proof that age is merely a number and everyone can karate chop their way to wild dreams they never envisioned, I don’t know what is! Let’s go ahead and chop some goals, shall we? 🥋✨

Katy
Falconer

Welfare Officer

My name is Katy, and I serve as the Welfare Officer for YSMS. In my professional capacity, I am involved in education and also hold the position of Safeguarding Lead. I embarked on my kickboxing journey in June 2017, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to attain my black belt next year. Both of my daughters are also engaged in martial arts; my youngest, who is still in primary school, participates in the beginners group, while my elder daughter, now in secondary school, is currently in the senior belt group.

As of May 2025, I successfully achieved my initial goal of becoming a black belt, and I am now setting my sights on new objectives.
